Random acts of kindness

I've been thinking a while now about practicing random acts of kindness. Small things, that show the love of another human being, small things that can make someone's day, belief in the goodness of others.

I always give left over pizza to homeless people when we have had a meal out, and I gave a homeless guy a huge icy coke during a really hot spell we had!

But I dont just mean giving to people less fortunate, RAK doesnt discrimate, by age, gender or class. Everyone derserves a little happiness or good fortune once in a while, everyone needs to know that not everyone out there is uncaring and self absorbed. Some people like to smile, to give, to help, and as I belive what you put out you get back threefold, then why wouldnt you want to be more giving, more patient, more understanding? Why wouldnt you want to go out of your way to make a stranger smile?

I have been meaning to give some seeds to a house where I visit my friend. I always use thier drive to turn around in, they are elderly people, but unlike all the others in the street, have not put gates on thier drive. It's a small road, and everyone uses thier driveway, and I have certainly never been moaned at or approached (people do get funny about the craziest things). They have a beautiful garden, and are obviously green fingered, so my plan was to drop a packet of seeds through the door, with a note, just to return the kindness. I still havent done it, but with spring coming and my resolution to myself to begin to practice regular RAK, I will be buying a packet of seeds soon.

Tonight however, I practised my first RAK for a while, and it feels good. Totally unplanned and spontaneous.

I would recommend it!

I have also decided that everyday I will write at least 10 mins in one of my journals. 10 mins is such a small portion of my day, but I must do it, I have to get more disciplined, I have to keep writing the stuff out of my head. It helps, especially when my head is too spangled to draw. I'm gonna get another counsellor soon, I think I need a bit more support to keep my head in line!
